What are FELTIES???
"Felties" are sweet (and sometimes not so sweet) critters hand stitched from (you guessed it) FELT!
OUR Felties generally stand about 3 to 4 inches high, just small enough to make them wearable as a Pin or "Brooch", but big enough to capture their expressions, as well as capturing compliments from all the people who will notice you wearing them.
It started when we came across a WONDERFUL book called "Zombie Felties" by Nicola Tedman & Sarah Skeate in the local bookstore...yes, a real hold-it-in-your-hand-and-turn-the-paper-pages BOOK! (You can find their book at http://www.amazon.com/Zombie-Felties-Gruesome-Creatures-Undead/dp/0740797646) We confess, this is one of the few items we make that actually started with someone else's idea. While we were too cheap to go copy the patterns, we did use their instructions in the book pretty closely. But it evolved from there!
Using scraps of felt left from other projects, we experimented with shapes, designs, and new characters. They grew, morphed, changed, took on lives of their own. Someone requested a plethora of monsters for a Baby Shower, then someone ELSE requested more for ANOTHER baby shower. THEN someone wanted bunnies for Easter. Then someone wanted a MONKEY! And so on, and so on, and so on.
So while we still have a few based on the original concepts thanks to the wonderful authors and their great photos, we now offer several FRESH ideas...all still sewn 100% BY HAND!
